Jogging with One Foot

From CNN Another foot found in Canada.

  • “For the 11th time in the past four years, a human foot in a sport shoe was found on a Pacific Northwest shoreline.”

Why am I wasting my time on this? It’s a tempting (even morbid) distraction. I wanted to spend some time educating myself on futures trading… But I can’t help wondering about this guys (or girls) little hobby. Once or twice, ok, for a joke, but 11 times? Is this a medically recognised fetish? It’s been going on for a while. You can find some very funny commentary since 2008.

From the Associated Press

  • “Curtis Ebbesmeyer, a former professor of oceanography at the University of Washington who studies floating objects, (my highlights) said when the third foot was found that the feet could have drifted from as far as 1,000 miles away. Ebbesmeyer said the feet could have been severed or detached from their bodies on their own.” (Obviously…)
And this of course makes me wonder about the study of floating objects. Can you imagine that job? Here’s Curtis’s Wikipedia entry! Impressive. He doesn’t just do feet.

From the Seattle Times

  • One of the five disembodied human feet found over the past year along the shorelines of British Columbia has been matched to a depressed man who went missing a year ago.”
Don’t go missing on the shoreline of British Columbia if you’re depressed.
